Aleksandra Hurkała

She was born in Szczawnica. Graduated from the Music Secondary School in Cracow under the direction of Mrs Marzena Stępniewska. She is a graduate of The Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in the piano class of prof. Jarosław Drzewiecki. Her pianistic skills have been perfected at master classes in Poland and abroad conducted by noted professors, including Kevin Kenner, Wojciech Świtała, Viera Nosin, Aleksander Zvirblyte, Andrzej Jasiński and Monika Sikorska-Wojtacha. In 2018 she took part in The VI International Master Course for Young Pianists in Radziejowice organized by The Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw.

Laureate of many piano contests, including:
• 2nd Prize at the International Piano Competition in Druskininkai, Lithuania (2012),
• 2nd prize at the International Piano Competition in Copenhagen (2014
• 1st Prize at International Master for Music Teachers in Warsaw (2014),
• The “Individual Music Forum” award, received from the Chairman of the Program Council at the 8th International Piano Forum in Sanok (2013),
• Laureate of the Polish Art Festival “Orzeł 2016” in the music category,
• Special prize from the mayor of Szczawnica for outstanding achievements in the field of art (2014).

Aleksandra appears on stages in Poland and abroad, including:
• Recital in Chopin Museum in Warsaw under the umbrella of “Young talents” project, organised by The Fryderyk Chopin Institute (2016),
• A series of concerts entitled “Concerts under the Stars” at the Planetarium of the Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw (2017),
• Promotion of the Polish music by performing at the Concert Hall of the Talent School in Lviv and playing Witold Lutosławski’s Sonata Op. 1 (first performance ever of this piece of music in Ukraine).
• Inauguration of the “Chopin Music Spot” at Warsaw Chopin Airport by performing a Chopin recital (2016)
• Performance of piano recital at Teatr Wielki in Warsaw at the Great Gala of Polish Business (2016.)
• “The Great Sonata” Op. 8 by Franciszek Lessel in Warsaw (2014, first performance ever of this piece of music in Poland).
• Piano recital at the Fryderyk Chopin European Artistic Centre in Sanniki (2017, part of Piotr Machalica’s poetry evening)
• J.S Bach concertos in Poland and abroad (cooperation with Quartet of the Lviv Music Academy)
• From December 2017 she regularly performs at the Castle Square in Warsaw as part of the “Time for Chopin” Project.

She actively participates in the organization of the series of concerts of the Wawer Music Festival and the European Festival of the Academy of Music (both events hold in Warsaw). Moreover, since 2013 she has been co-organizer and Artistic Director of “Concert of 5-Cultures”.
