Live Film Music in Warsaw – Piano Recital for Mother’s Day | 23 May 2026
Looking for a Mother’s Day idea in Warsaw? Or simply something special for a
Saturday evening on 23 May with the whole family? This concert is made for you.
What will you hear?
Themes from films that stay with you for life. The delicate “Comptine d’un Autre été”
from Amélie – a film that made more than one adult cry quietly in the dark. The
sweeping “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic, the one your mum hummed for weeks
after the cinema. The magical themes from Harry Potter – childhood music you now
find yourself humming alongside your own kids. The monumental Godfather theme
by Nino Rota, recognised by every generation, iconic motifs from Star Wars, Pirates
of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones – films known across generations. There will also
be a return to childhood for those who grew up on Disney: Aladdin, Mulan and The
Little Mermaid – songs you were humming before you could read. And a beautiful
theme from Game of Thrones – come and find out which one for yourself.

This is a repertoire that works on children and grown-up children alike. Mum hears
the melodies of her youth and the ones she used to sing to her child. The child
recognises the films they grew up with. And they both remember watching them
together.
At the piano: Rafał Mokrzycki
A Polish pianist with an international career. Winner of the prestigious Valletta
International Piano Competition in Malta, graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University
of Music in Warsaw and the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna.
He has performed at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, the National Forum of
Music in Wrocław, and on stages across China, Japan, Austria, Germany and
beyond. He specialises in the works of Frédéric Chopin, performed regularly at
Chopin Point Warsaw.
Why come?
Film music arranged for solo piano sounds completely different from a standard
recording played through speakers. The piano draws something out of these
melodies that the cinema version never quite captures – detail, nuance, emotion.
Rafał Mokrzycki performs them as complete, fully realised works, not as light
entertainment. The recital runs for approximately 55 minutes without a break – the
right pace for both adults and older children.
