Mana Shoji
Mana Shoji was born in Japan in 1997, she began her piano study at the age of four. In 2015, she passed the entrance examination with the highest score for the piano course of Tokyo University of the Arts (Geidai), the only national arts university in Japan.
Then she graduated from its graduate school and master’s degree, piano class of prof. Kei Itoh. The theme of her master’s paper was “An analysis on Chopin’s aesthetics and works based on the accounts of his pupils”.
Now she is a student of Professor Katarzyna Popowa-Zydron at The Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz from October 2022.
Also she was a special scholarship student of Munetsugu Angel Fund/Japan Federation of Musicians for Emerging Performers of 2019/2020.
She has won many awards such as the Gold Prize and soloist award in the 15th Chopin International Piano Competition in Asia(2013, Tokyo),the 1st prize in the 6th International Rosario Marciano Competition(2014, Vienna), a Semifainalist of 10th Giorgos Thymis International Piano Competition(Greece,January 2023)
In 2021, she was selected as a participant of the preliminary round of the 18th Chopin Piano Competition.
She has given recitals including Tokyo, Kobe, Osaka. Recently she played at the “Tokyo Spring Music Festival” which is one of the most famous and big festival in Japan. (2023, Tokyo) She participate in 2nd International Chopin Competition on period instruments in Warsaw.
